2014 Reflections

As the year draws to an end, I like to reflect on the good things that happened throughout the year, and look forward to what is in store for us in the New Year. Rather than just hearing from me, I asked my wonderful team what they liked best about this year, and what they look forward to in the coming year.

From Maureen Turner: I had a wonderful year at Partners in Association Management. I sell advertising for the Journal of Dental Technology. JDT had a wonderful and prosperous year. I have the best job. I help people get their message out there, and build their businesses. I am truly thankful for each and every one of my advertisers and the support that they give! I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! My hope for 2015 is that it will be the best year ever, for each and every one of us!

From Lauren Millard: 2014 brought a lot of changes for me and my husband.  In August, he accepted a new job that required us to relocate from Tallahassee to Orlando.  Though we knew it was a great opportunity for him, I couldn’t help but be upset about leaving Partners!  After talking with my boss and the owners, they gave me some amazing news that allowed me to keep my job with them and work from home!  So at the end of September, we packed up our life in Tallahassee and headed for new adventures in Orlando.  It didn’t take too long for those new adventures to start, because 2 weeks after we moved we found out we were expecting our first child!  Now neither of us can wait for June 2015 to be here!!  Happy New Year!

From Amanda Carey: This year has been full of transitions for me.  The most exciting one was my transition into a program manager role.  Coming from Member Services where I worked with all 19 clients on a daily basis, it was very interesting to get an in-depth understanding of one specific program team.   I’ve learned how to trust my instinct in certain situations and grow myself professionally.  I look forward to good things in 2015 as a Program Manager at Partners!

From John Ricco, CAE: Like the blooms and blossoms of spring time, the turn of a new year brings the opportunity for a renewed interested in growth and development.  The thing I like best about the New Year holiday is that it gives us an automatic chance to wipe the slate clean and start anew.  If the prior year happened to be a great one personally or professionally, you can use those accomplishments as a foundation to build upon to make 2015 even better.  Alternatively, if 2014 didn’t quite live up to your expectations or hopes, the New Year gives you chance to, as they say in the sports world (and Taylor Swift songs) “shake it off” and try again.  The renewed sense of optimism and a better tomorrow is what I like best about a new year.

From Jillian Heddaeus, CMP: Resolve to resolve year round. With the calendar year coming to an end, many start thinking about “New Year’s Resolutions.” I challenge you to focus on setting goals throughout the year. Balancing it all can be difficult and too many changes at once can become overwhelming. Whether personal or professional put them to work as you can; and when opportunities arise, set new priorities and practices to help you succeed.

So as you end this year, what are you thinking about in your personal life or your career? I hope you will remember the good things that happened to you, forget about the bad things that may have happened and start the New Year with an attitude of gratitude! That always seems to work best for me!

Happy New Year!
